4,129 Graduates Receive Degrees at GUB 5th Convocation

The 5th Convocation of Green University of Bangladesh was held on February 17, 2025. UGC Chairman Dr SMA Faiz, was the key man of the convocation ceremony as the representative of the President and Chancellor of the university and conferred degrees on the graduates.
A total of 4,129 graduates received degrees in this convocation. Five students received Chancellor's Gold Medal and ten were awarded Vice-Chancellor's Gold Medal.
Renowned Professor Dr. Ali Riaz was present Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mamun, Chairman of BOT; Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Uddin, Vice-Chancellor; Professor Dr. Khaza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Dr Md. Fayzur Rahman, Treasurer of the university also spoke on the occasion.
In his presidential address, Dr. Faiz emphasized the increasing responsibility of graduates towards society in the face of recent global changes. He stated that those with the power to bring change must also take on the task of shaping a better future. Dr. Faiz urged the graduates to work collectively in leading society toward positive transformation, rebuilding flawed systems, and establishing a just and equitable society. He also encouraged the graduates to apply both technological knowledge and humanitarian values to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Convocation speaker Professor Dr. Ali Riaz noted that the event not only marks the end of academic life but also signals the beginning of a new phase—one filled with real-life challenges and the journey of establishing one’s place in the world. He encouraged the graduates of Green University to face these challenges head-on with courage and determination.
Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, stated that while the future holds immense potential, it also comes with obstacles. He expressed his confidence that the knowledge, skills, and values imparted by Green University would serve as a strong foundation for the graduates' futures. He mentioned that the university has already launched programs in Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering and plans to introduce Pharmacy and Architecture in the near future.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Uddin highlighted the dynamic and multi-dimensional nature of the future world, emphasizing the importance of staying updated with emerging technologies such as cyber advancements, 5G industrial revolutions, smart communication systems, artificial intelligence, and tools like ChatGPT. He urged graduates to turn their confidence into inner strength and achieve greatness while making the nation proud.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Khaza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed stressed the importance of higher education in building a skilled workforce. He encouraged graduates to become ambassadors of Bangladesh across the globe and discussed various contributions of Green University in the field of higher education.
The convocation was attended by vice-chancellors from various universities, members of the board of trustees, academic council and syndicate members, faculty, students, invited guests, and proud guardians.
